Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets out how personal data is processed when you use the website at www.fishlocal.org (‘Site’). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. You can print it off, or store it in your computer, for future reference. We take the privacy of your personal data very seriously.

For the purposes of the applicable Data Protection legislation (which includes the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Data Protection Act 2018), the data controller in respect of the personal data we collect when you use the Site is Kent & Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (referred to in this Privacy Policy as ‘we’/’us’/’our’). Personal Data we collect
The Site is intended to provide information to UK consumers and retailers about the Kent & Essex fishing industry, and to enable members of the local fishing industry to promote themselves and their products to the local community.

If you wish to contact us through the Site, we ask you to supply your name, e-mail address, mobile and/or phone number, and other relevant details (as set out in the Contact section of the Site). We may also collect further personal data from you, depending on the nature of your enquiry.

If you use the What’s Fresh social media wall on the Site, you will have access to Personal Data provided by members of the local fishing industry, which will be processed in accordance with the privacy policy applicable to the relevant social media channel. If you contribute to the What’s Fresh social media wall, or provide details for our Suppliers search tool, we may also collect the Personal Data you provide.

How we use your Personal Data
We will process the Personal Data that you give us, or we collect from you, when you contact us through the Site, so that we can supply you with the information that you request. The legal basis on which we do so is that it is necessary for our legitimate interests in promoting the Kent & Essex fishing industry.
If you contribute to the What’s Fresh social media wall, or provide details for our Suppliers search tool, we will process the Personal Data that you give us, or we collect from you, so that we can supply the services available through the Site. The legal basis on which we do so is that it is necessary for our legitimate interests in promoting the Kent and Essex fishing industry.

We may also process the personal data that you give us for internal record keeping, to respond to any queries, complaints or requests for further information, and to improve the content or lay-out of the Site. The legal basis on which we do so is that it is necessary for our legitimate interests in improving the services and content that we make available, managing the Site and providing a better service for users of the Site.

We may also contact you by email with information about other goods, services and content we feel may interest you, but only where you have consented to this.

You can always opt-out of receiving further emails from us. All future communications will also contain a simple way to opt out of receiving such further communications from us.

Your personal data will not be used for any other purpose, or disclosed to any third party, unless we are required to do so by law, or as set out in the next section.

Who do we share your Personal Data with?
We may disclose your personal data if it is necessary for us to do so in order to comply with any legal or regulatory obligation, or where we have a legitimate interests in doing so, such as in order to enforce or apply our contract with you, to investigate potential breaches, or to protect our property and rights or those of others. How long do we keep your Personal Data?
If you contact us with an enquiry, we will normally retain your personal data for six months, or for longer where we it is necessary for us to do so for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for compliance with regulatory or other legal obligations.

Your rights as a Data Subject
